Recreational areas along the Sieg River are specially designated, location-specific zones within the otherwise strictly protected nature reserve, where the general ban on swimming and entry that otherwise applies is lifted, so that leaving the trails, camping, swimming, and the use of inflatable boats are all legally permitted.
