Under her direction, the company not only danced on stage, it also spoke, sang, laughed and cried. This was the start of a revolution in Wuppertal which was to eventually emancipate dance worldwide.
The daughter of restaurant proprietors from Solingen died suddenly in 2009. She left behind an unparalleled body of work for which she received numerous awards. Today, her compositions are performed by dance companies all over the world.
