Short facts

  • Wuppertal

Animals from all over the world have their home here. Spacious accommodation in modern enclosures. Roam through the beautiful landscape of the wildlife park on a zoo safari.

LIVES UP TO ITS NAME: GREEN ZOO WUPPERTAL

Semi-natural habitat for endangered species

Wuppertal Zoo is one of the oldest and most traditional in Germany. Around 3,300 animals from all corners of the world have their home here, including numerous endangered species. In terms of landscape, the zoo is one of the most beautiful facilities of its kind. Situated on a slope, wide grassland areas, large ponds and a old tree population dominate the landscape.

Eye to eye with the big cats

African lions and Siberian tigers also enjoy huge outdoor enclosures at Wuppertal Zoo. If you are lucky, you can even see the animals up close. You can get a great view from the Sambatrasse. The former railway line takes cyclists and hikers right through the zoo grounds. A bridge goes almost directly over the tiger enclosure.

Avian matchmaking in the Aralandia marriage aviary
. The Green Zoo Wuppertal gained a new attraction in 2021. Aralandia is 1,000 square meter free flight aviary that gives its feathered residents plenty of room to frolic, fly around and flirt. This matchmaking agency was opened particularly for highly endangered hyacinth macaws, red-fronted macaws and blue-throated macaws. As a visitor, you are present at the courtship.

From great apes to tomato frogs: Your wildlife discovery tour

Gorillas, bears, elephants, tapirs or narrow-mouthed frogs - want to learn more about the animals in the zoo? On a zoo safari, you can explore the grounds on your own and find answers to interesting questions. Or you can ask the experts what you have always wanted to know. A zoo tour gives you the opportunity to do just that. An evening tour when the zoo is actually closed is a special experience too.

As well as unforgettable animal encounters, the Green Zoo also hosts a wide variety of events such as concerts and festivals. It opens its gates to inquisitive visitors every day, all year round. Whether in spring, summer, autumn or winter - it’s well worth a visit at any time.

Tip: Looking for a stunning event venue? Whether it’s for a children’s birthday party or a wedding, you will find your perfect wild setting here.
