The Wiehl dam shows that the Upper Berg reservoirs have more to offer than just their water.

Right at the start of this stage, there’s an island to discover that has become famous as an advertising spot for a beer brand. Christmas tree plantations line the path up to the highest point of this stage near Erdingen, from where you can see a large part of the Bergisches Land. Rome isn’t far from here either: the Oberberg region’s counterpart to the Holy City features not only a chapel but also a helicopter landing pad, making it a worthwhile detour before the trail descends to the main town of the municipality of Morsbach.

We’d like to thank Axel Krämer and Jens Dassow, who maintain the trail as volunteer trail sponsors.

Here you’ll find all the hosts for Stage 9.

Robert Klink hiked the entire Bergischer Panoramasteig and filmed a great video. You can watch it here on YouTube.
