Your start begins on quiet asphalt paths through an open landscape with meadows and pastures until you pass the hilltop villages of Öttershagen and Langenberg. A beautiful section of path leads you through forests and stream valleys into the Rosbach valley, where you can take a break. In summer, foxgloves bloom here and large pine trees line the path. After another section along the path, the former forest hospital “Auguste Viktoria-Stift” shimmers through the branches - once a pulmonary sanatorium reminiscent of Thomas Mann's “Magic Mountain”. Not exactly a mountain, but high enough for hang-gliders to use it as a launch site, the “Old Chair” awaits you with beautiful views. The route then takes you along a dirt track over hill and dale, before heading back into the forest: Here, more climate-stable mixed deciduous forests develop on the areas of former spruce crops. Behind the village of Distelshausen, a beautiful march along cow pastures begins. In spring and summer, you can hear the humming of the nearby beehives. Behind Kohlberg, an exotic surprise awaits you at the “Alpacas of the West” stud farm. At the top of the hilltop, you can see the Siebengebirge mountains on a clear day. Through hamlets and fields, you will reach your starting point after a final stretch of forest.
