Right at the beginning, the path takes you straight into the nature reserve "Forests on the Leuscheid" with its near-natural beech forests, stream valleys, and wet heaths. With a bit of luck, you may encounter rare animal species along the way such as the black woodpecker, fire salamander, or alpine newt. You cross the Kesselbach on a pretty natural stone bridge, pass slopes with young oaks further on, and reach a medieval ring fort. It probably served primarily to protect the population during attacks. The route continues uphill, leading through bright deciduous forests. Succession areas of former spruce stands repeatedly open up surprising views into the valley. Shortly after the transmission mast, there is an opportunity for a detour to the natural monument "Blue Stone." A footpath leads into the dreamy Werfer stream valley, where sections alternate between forest and meadows. Deep in the forest, you reach the healing spring at Ohmbach, where benches and tables invite you to take a break. According to legend, the spring water once healed a blind robber baron’s daughter. On paths, the way winds through bright reforested areas and deciduous forest downhill to Herchen. Via stairs, you reach the railway bridge over the Sieg and pass the Herchen train station. Uphill and downhill, the last section of the route takes you through forest and across meadows back to Stromberg, where after a rest in the oak grove and crossing the Sieg, you arrive back at the starting point.
