The audio tour is part of the meander path and takes you through the grounds of the Windeck castle ruins for 10 minutes. From Schladern train station, which was awarded the "NRW hiking station" in 2014, you hike towards Krummauel. The Sieg oxbow with its alder swamp forests, reed beds and bodies of water is home to many rare animal and plant species. You will soon get your first glimpse of Windeck Castle. Along the outskirts of Schladern, the path gradually climbs up to the high castle, a formerly impressive medieval complex. There is a great view from its plateau. The mobile phone tour starts at the information board on the west side of the castle ruins and ends at the top in the stair tower next to the large defensive tower.
At the foot of the Schlossberg, the Altwindeck Museum Village tells of life and work in earlier times. The tour takes you through the village of Altwindeck towards Dattenfeld. From the edge of the village, the path goes up to the Kolfenberg, where you can take a rest near the shelter. After a steep descent to the river and crossing it, the path leads uphill again on the edge of Dreisel. Once at the top, you can enjoy the view back to the village of Dreisel, surrounded by wooded hills. It goes steeply downhill again over the Sieg to the Sieg waterfall. It was created during the construction of the railway when a hole was blasted into the rock. The "Elmore's" factory was once located here to use the water power to manufacture copper pipes. In the area around the former shipping hall, which has been converted into the kabelmetal community and cultural center, you will find the Sieg Nature Region Visitor Center, a beer garden and an ice cream parlor. After a short stretch of path over the railway embankment, the tour ends at the train station.
