Detour in Windeck Dreisel! Kangaroo Cycling Route: After a short distance, it is worth unpacking your swimsuit. At the spa park in Herchen, pedal boats and mini golf clubs await you. In the nearby Open-Air Museum Village Altwindeck, old buildings and a museum garden invite you on a journey back to the last century. From Eitorf, it's not far to Stromberg. Here, it’s worth unpacking your swimsuit because several spots in front of the railway bridge invite you to swim and a canoe may also be launched officially here. Continue cycling to Herchen. Just before the station, the Waldhaus Herchen lies on a hill above the Sieg bend. Families are warmly welcomed as overnight guests here. In the spa park café of the state-recognized resort, delicious cakes lure, and it also houses a hostel. Children can pedal boat and play mini golf in the immediate neighborhood.
On the further way towards Windeck, you pass the small village of Hoppengarten. Directly on the L 333 between Hoppengarten and Roßel is a small bathing area popular with families. From there, it is not far to Dattenfeld. A small detour to the Dattenfeld leisure park with a nice natural playground for kids to romp around is worthwhile. Another swimming option not far from a rapid is located along the route at a Sieg bend in Dreisel.
Then you reach Schladern again with powerful pedaling; here there is a waterfall with a drop of 4 meters over several steps and a total width of 84 meters. Directly at the waterfall is a beer garden, situated on the former site of the Elmore copper works.
At the end of this last stage, you can take the train, or you can stay at the Windeck-Rosbach youth hostel. It is surrounded by the largest contiguous forest area in the region and is a perfect place for nature lovers and little forest explorers to linger. If you want to ride a bit further, the Panarbora youth hostel in Waldbröl probably has a bed free for you and you can even climb a treetop path there. You can reach the hostel from Schaldern via junction 25 on the Panarbora bike path, which however has numerous climbs.
