Tropfsteinhöhle - Cave in Wiehl

Short facts

  • Wiehl

Eine Führung durch die Tropfsteinhöhle hin zur Kristallgrotte ist ein beeindruckendes Erlebnis.

The cave "Wiehler Tropfsteinhöhle" was discovered in 1860 due to blasts at a limestone quarry. However, the cave was only opened to the public in 1927 following extensive safety works.

The temperature remains at a constant 8 degrees Celsius here. The entrance hall is down 26 steps, 7 m underground. The many narrow stalactites hanging from the ceiling and the thick stalagmites rising from the floor are quite impressive. In addition to these, the coral reef deposits from the Devonian period are also a marvel to see.

Wiehl Registry Office offers a special highlight. You can get married in a grotto 30 m underground.
