The Bergische Panoramasteig leads over 244 km in 12 stages through the Bergisches Land Nature Park.
The Bergische Panoramasteig is located in one of Germany’s most diverse low-mountain landscapes, just about 40 kilometers from the city of Cologne. It winds through the Bergisches Land Nature Park in a large loop spanning 244 kilometers and divided into 12 stages. Every step of the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the vast, open cultural landscape. The loop trail winds through the valleys of the Agger, Wupper, and other small streams, through stunning mixed forests, past lush meadows and numerous reservoirs—and especially frequently over the ridges so typical of the region, with their panoramic views.
Along the way, you can not only enjoy the views but also experience plenty of attractions: The Bergisch Open-Air Museum, various stalactite caves, the Monkey and Bird Park, Homburg Castle, the treetop trail at Panarbora, and other fascinating traces of cultural history bring the past, culture, and local flora and fauna to life. Take a break during your hike and visit a museum, a monument, or a church along the way. It’s well worth it!
