Barmer Anlagen

Short facts

  • Wuppertal

100 hectares of green space in the heart of Wuppertal | Barmer Anlagen

Wuppertal is widely known to be one of the greenest cities. The Barmer Anlagen show why that’s the case. The combination of wide meadows, winding paths, small ponds and monuments with a spacious urban forest, viewpoints and well-maintained planting invites you to unwind and relax. That was precisely the purpose of the park when it was founded in 1864. The aim was to create a place where the population could relax away from the hustle and bustle of the industrialised city.

A walk through the Barmer Anlagen is relaxing and exciting both in summer and in winter as there is always something to discover. Those who want to spend some time here on a sunny day should simply bring a blanket and picnic basket with them or sit down with a good book on one of the many benches. When the park is covered in a thick blanket of snow in winter, visitors of all ages are guaranteed to have fun tobogganing. More information can be found on the website.
