Brucher Valley Reservoir

The Brucher Talsperre is a leisure lake, idyllically situated in the countryside near Marienheide. It can be circumnavigated in just under an hour's walk on beautiful lakeside paths (approx. 3.5 km). A campsite is located directly on the lake and invites you to enjoy a relaxed and comfortable stay by the water. The Brucher dam is also known for its excellent sailing opportunities. Since 2023, there have been new barrier-free toilet facilities and a barrier-free bathing area at the Brucher Dam. Access to the water is possible via a ramp with railings.

On hot days, there are various bathing options at the Brucher dam:

• at the sailing club
• at the DLRG station
• at the dam wall
• at the campsite
• Barrier-free bathing area with ramp

The bathing spots are marked in the attached download. At some times the bathing spots are also monitored by the DLRG.

The Brucher dam is the closest to the source of the Wupper and was built in 1912 and 1913. It requires 3.37 million cubic meters of water to fill it. The water basin then has a surface area of 47.4 hectares.

Information for groups

Free guided tours are offered by prior appointment. They usually take place from Monday to Thursday between 9 am and 1 pm. Guided tours are also often offered on open days.
