Short facts

  • Marienheide

Attention! No swimming in the Lingese reservoir due to blue-green algae. Small but beautiful - the Lingese reservoir

At the moment it is not allowed to swim in the Lingese dam. Further information.

Built between 1897 and 1899, the Lingese Dam is one of the oldest reservoirs in the Wupper Association. The dammed river is the Lingese, a tributary of the Wipper. The small, manageable dam was originally used to regulate the river and supply industrial water, and is now used for flood protection and low water elevation.

It is also an important location for local recreation with water sports facilities of all kinds. Bathing areas are located at the DLRG station, at the campsite and at the Linge (see download). The lakeside path around the dam is approx. 5 km long.

Fish at the Lingese

Many species of fish find their habitat in the underwater world of the Bergische Talsperren. A fish trail along the banks of the Lingese dam provides information about the abundant life below the surface.
