And that’s exactly why this tour takes you along winding roads to several spots from which Cologne Cathedral is clearly visible. This way, you can immerse yourself in the rolling green hills of the Bergisches Land while still keeping the cathedral in sight. A sense of calm and leisure sets in, but for Rhinelanders, that feeling of home literally falls by the wayside on this route. You’ll be surprised by the impressive panoramic views of Cologne that this tour has to offer!

The “Domblicke” Tour is also a treat for anyone not from the Rhineland. After all, Cologne Cathedral is an imposing structure and, at the same time, the third-tallest church in the world, repeatedly coming into view amid treetops and hills (provided the visibility is good, of course!). Of course, in addition to the cathedral serving as a guiding landmark along the roughly 130-kilometer route, driving enjoyment is guaranteed, as this route also winds through scenic countryside. And, of course, there are plenty of opportunities to stop for a break at one of the hospitable establishments in the Bergisches Land region.

The northern loop in the Witzhelden area is well worth the detour in nice weather and with clear visibility, as the L359 offers beautiful views of Cologne. We highly recommend driving the loop counterclockwise so you can enjoy a relaxed view of Cologne Cathedral as you travel.
