Two routes in one tour: Enjoy views way into the distance out over the Bergisch landscape and leisurely cycling on the disused railway line with no uphill sections.

High up with a panoramic view

This cycling tour offers you the best of both worlds, a physical challenge and an enjoyable cycle ride. Both sections have their own character and show the most beautiful sides of Wuppertal.

Your challenge, the Wuppertal Nordhöhen

Even the name sounds promising – that the views will stretch way into the distance. And they do. The efforts of the climbs are rewarded with fantastic views.

Pure relaxation: Cycling on the Nordbahntrasse

Enjoyment is all that matters on the Nordbahntrasse. This former railway line takes you over imposing viaducts and through long tunnels. There are virtually no uphill sections on the stretch back to the starting point of the cycle tour. The city has “Wuppertalbewegung e.V.” to thank for the Nordbahntrasse. This association has worked tirelessly to make this project a reality using considerable financial resources and relying on the work of volunteers.

Tip: Try some floating instead of cycling! Wuppertal's suspension railway should not be missed.
