We start at Siegauenplatz on the north side of Eitorf station. The RE 9 (Cologne-Siegen) as well as the S-Bahn lines S12 and S19 stop at Eitorf station. There are also many free parking spaces available at Siegauenplatz. First, the river side must be changed to reach the Sieg cycle path. From Siegauenplatz, the signposted route leads through a skate park, over the small Eipbach, the grounds of the Siegtal-Gymnasium and the bridge streets. Behind the Sieg bridge, we keep immediately to the right and reach junction 15 on the Sieg cycle path. We follow the signage of the Sieg cycle path to junction 25 in Bourauel. From here, we orient ourselves according to the signage to junction 23. For this, we turn right in Bourauel and begin the ascent to the Nutscheidhöhenweg. In total, about 160 meters of elevation must be covered on the well-asphalted and lightly trafficked road in this approx. 4 km long section. From junction 23, the route continues to ascend continuously, but the climbs are no longer as steep. On the Nutscheidhöhenweg, a former trade route, which is mistakenly also called Roman road, we reach the junctions 56, 55 and 77. Along the way, there is plenty of nature and except for an inn in Altenherfen, no opportunities to stop for refreshments. Directly behind junction 77 is the Panarbora nature adventure park with youth hostel and treetop path. Here, on the outskirts of Waldbröl, we are about 300m higher than at the start in Eitorf. From Panarbora, the homonymous approx. 9 km long cycle path leads back down to the Sieg valley. Those who have cycled enough have the option at Schladern station to take the train back to Eitorf. A visit to the Sieg waterfall is definitely recommended beforehand. By bike, it is about 24 kilometers to Eitorf on the Sieg cycle path. Behind Schladern, the route first leads to Mauel. A beautiful moated castle lies directly on the path. Then follows the last mountain stage to Dreisel. From here, it goes relaxed along the Sieg back to the starting point. On the way there are numerous highlights such as the Siegtal cathedral in Dattenfeld, the spa park in Herchen or the oak grove in Stromberg. Since the railway line always runs parallel to the cycle path, the route can also be ended in Dattenfeld or Herchen.
